You Matter

Burnout Prevention through Coaching & Yoga

You've heard the expression "Burning the candle at both ends," right?

I've been there. I remember confusing the things that kept me busy as things that were important. I ignored what mattered most- nurturing relationships and understanding my own purpose, passion, and vision.

Expectation, responsibility, and fear were great obstacles.

As an educator, I know the power of early intervention. This is why I am so passionate about the prevention side of burnout. I have my own wellness team to support both my prevention and recovery as needed. It keeps me honest and grounded. (You should always speak with a medical professional if you are questioning whether you are experiencing depression or burnout.)

We go to the doctor to get our blood screened to see if anything needs tending. We exercise the body to maintain or change its composition.

Why do we not invest the same for our energy and peace of mind?

Prevention through Coaching

Friends and family can be a massive source of support...or discord. They are emotionally attached to the outcome of our decision making. It's hard to remain neutral!

A coach can be neutral

With a coach, you can develop a plan to shift your mindset, remove obstacles, and affect change.

Coaching is not therapy*, and I regularly refer clients to other professionals that are better suited to a more therapeutic relationship.

*You do not have to commit to either coaching or therapy. You may have a relationship with both providers and choose to bring insights from therapy to our sessions. Coaching focuses on strategic planning and personal growth.

I love witnessing the "A-ha!" or breakthrough moment in coaching!

Yoga as Stress Management Insurance

Have you ever watched a cat slowly stretch in a patch of sun, connect with their breath, and move their body until they purr? Or, sigh? That's what I want to gift to people both on and off the mat.

Yoga was never for me. I wasn't flexible, fit, or bendy enough. That was the story I told myself. Despite all of my protestations, yoga kept whispering to me.

To quote one of my mentors, "Yoga for everybody and every body!" Yoga helped me to make my body my friend again. It helped me find the pause. It helped me align my prior transformational learning.

The physical part of yoga is just one part of yoga. That's why I lean into Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, or Yoga Nidra. The best part is that these practices are easily integrated into a coaching session- even over the phone!

Return to & Breathe with Nature

There are many folks more qualified than myself to talk about the benefits of nature. One of those folks lives with me!

"Being in and engaging with Nature has been shown to help reduce stress, improve feelings of happiness, and free up creativity..." ~Chuck Thomas

I love to read. That's my go to when I want to unwind. But, when I read outside versus on my couch...that's a different feeling. Walking with a loved one outside- there's certainly some scenery that's breathtaking. But, slowing down to use my senses and engage with the "more than human world" is breath-fulfilling.

And, yes, I have coached clients by phone while they are engaging with nature if that is a request that they have. It's amazing what insights can be uncovered thanks to spontaneous moments with nature!

Let's Connect!

The first step to alignment is reflection. Let's find a time to connect and talk about what's on your mind.

How does coaching with Suzie work?

Strategy Session

This is our complimentary "getting to know you" session during which we experience the coaching process. We will explore your desired outcomes and possible obstacles. Many clients feel a shift in mindset during this time!

Foundational Sessions

During these sessions, we clarify your values. I will support you through a powerful guided visualization that often unlocks your deepest yearning- sometimes hidden from yourself. We will also explore why self-care is not selfish and is more than a bubble bath! (But bubble baths are self-care, too.)

Continuing Contact

The frequency of our sessions and duration of our agreement are up to you. Many like the idea of an accountability partner as they continue to apply what they have learned about themselves. (Mindfulness and gentle body movement can be incorporated into our sessions if you would like.)

"Homework"

There is no pass/fail with coaching. If you are agreeable to it, you may leave the session with "homework" for next time. It could be a task, it could be a journal reflection, or it could be go watch a TV show and eat a donut. Accountability is a natural outcome of the work we do together in the session.
